1747-L553 Description

The 1747-L553 is a processor belonging to the SLC 5/05 series within the 

SLC 500 programmable logic controller (PLC) platform. It boasts the highest 

memory capacity in the SLC 5/05 category, with 64 KB of memory. The controller 

features an integrated RS32 Sub-D 9-pin connector for establishing peer-to-peer 

communication with locally installed human-machine interfaces (HMIs) or programming 

workstations. Additionally, it is equipped with integrated Ethernet for communication 

over long distances, supporting a minimum of 100 meters at 10/100 Mbps transmission 

speed. This Ethernet connection is ideal for linking multiple devices simultaneously, 

with no impact on the processor's logic execution capability.

This controller is suitable for medium to large-scale applications, providing control for 

both manual and automatic processes in discrete or analog loops. It is also capable of 

implementing complex control techniques using a wide range of embedded instructions. 

The 1747-L553 is applicable in various fields such as factory automation, process control, 

and even motion and position control.

The controller also supports message transmission to other PLC platforms via a specified 

communication protocol. Although it includes Ethernet and RS232 ports, it can be expanded

 with communication adapters such as Remote I/O (RIO), Data Highway Plus (DH+), DeviceNet,and DH485 for additional connectivity.
