ABB TU845 Description

The TU845 MTU supports up to 8 I/O channels and 2+2 process voltage connections. 

Each channel consists of two I/O connections and one ZP connection. Input signals 

are connected through individual shunt sticks, TY801, which allow selection

between voltage and current input. The maximum rated voltage is 50 V, and the 

maximum rated current is 2 A per channel.

The MTU efficiently distributes two ModuleBuses—one to each I/O module and

to the subsequent MTU. It also generates the correct address for the I/O modules by 

shifting the outgoing position signals to the next MTU.

For mounting, the MTU features a mechanical latch that locks it securely to the 

DIN rail. Configuration is facilitated by four mechanical keys (two for each I/O 

module), enabling the MTU to be set up for various I/O module types. This 

configuration is purely mechanical and does not affect the functionality of either 

the MTU or the I/O module. Each key offers six positions, resulting in 36 

possible configurations for flexibility in module setup.
