1747-SN Description
The 1747-SN is a communication module designed to implement Remote I/O (RIO) communication between devices that support the RIO protocol. These devices include graphic operator terminals, message displays, controllers, other programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and third-party devices such as gateways and protocol converters. This module functions as a Scanner module, communicating with compatible RIO adapter modules to request I/O status updates, messages, and diagnostics over the RIO network.
The 1747-SN features one (1) RIO communication port, which is a three (3)-pin terminal requiring a specific communication cable, such as the Belden 9463 cable. The RIO protocol can be implemented over a maximum wire length of 3050 meters (10,000 feet), supporting connections for up to sixteen (16) devices in normal mode and thirty-two (32) devices in complementary mode. This scanner module supports data transfer rates of 57.6 Kbaud for cable lengths up to 3048 meters and 230.4 Kbaud for cable lengths up to 762 meters. Devices are connected in a daisy-chain topology, with both ends of the network terminated using an 82-ohm resistor.
