ABB SM812K01 Description

The SM812K01 module is designed to provide intelligent supervision for controllers 

during non-SIL and SIL1-2 operations. When paired with the PM857, PM863, or 

PM867 controllers, it forms a 1oo2 diverse structure for SIL3 applications, ensuring 

high safety and reliability.

Key Features:

Microprocessor: Powered by the MPC866 microprocessor, running at 133 MHz.

Memory: Equipped with 64 MB RAM to support robust performance.
Supervision: Provides supervision of the PM857, PM863, and PM867 controllers 

during SIL1-2 operations and together with these controllers, forms a 1oo2 

diverse architecture for SIL3 applications.
Redundancy Support: Supports redundancy and high-availability setups. Multiple 

SM812 modules can work together in redundant configurations with the redundant 

CPUs.
Hot Swap: Supports hot swap, enabling seamless integration without system downtime.

Synchronization Link (SM Link): Includes a dedicated SM Link for synchronizing 

redundant pairs during hot-insertion and online upgrades, ensuring data consistency 

between two SM812 modules in a redundant setup.
Overvoltage and Internal Voltage Monitoring: Provides overvoltage monitoring and 

internal voltage monitoring to protect the system.
Safety I/O: Includes a connector with three digital inputs and two digital outputs that 

are used for safety-related digital I/O (not for process I/O).
