1794-ACN15 Description
The 1794-ACN15 is a Flex I/O communication adapter module that supports
ControlNet communication, enabling Flex I/O modules to transfer and receive I/O
data over a ControlNet network with a transmission rate of up to 5 Mbps.
The 1794-ACN15 features a single ControlNet port that uses Belden RG-6/U cabling.
In addition to facilitating ControlNet communication, this module also converts incoming
power from the Flex I/O power supply into backplane power, which is used to operate
adjacent Flex I/O modules according to their designed functions.
The module includes built-in status indicators, such as:
I/O Status (red/green)
Comm A (red/green)
Comm B (red/green)
It operates with an input supply voltage of 19.2-31.2 VDC and a current of 400 mA,
while providing an output voltage and current to the bus of 5 VDC, 640 mA. The module
can withstand an inrush current of 14 A for 2 ms.
The 1794-ACN15 has an isolation voltage of 50 V (continuous), with Basic Insulation Type.
It is type-tested at 860 V AC for 60 seconds for isolation between power to system, power
to ControlNet, and ControlNet to system. However, there is no isolation between ControlNet
channels. The module has a power dissipation of 3.4 W at 19.2 VDC.
When connecting the power supply to the 1794-ACN15, the recommended wire specifications are:
For single-wire connections: 0.33-2.5 mm² (22-12 AWG) solid or stranded copper wire, rated
at 75 °C (167 °F) or higher, with a maximum insulation thickness of 1.2 mm (3/64 in).
For double-wire connections: 0.33-1.3 mm² (22-16 AWG) solid or stranded (not intermixed)
copper wire, rated at 75 °C (167 °F) or higher, with a maximum insulation thickness of 1.2 mm (3/64 in).
